Christina Falls
While this is a 2 - 2.5 hr drive out of Fort St John, this is a very
worthwhile trip for a weekend or a long day trip. Trail length to the
falls from the camp-ground at Crying Girl Prairie is approximately
35kilometres of some logging road/trail/mud/muskeg but does over nice
side trips to several other waterfalls (Fossil Falls & Whiteman Falls).
Camping at Crying Girl offers tall trees and a nice river with
some fishing (check regulations). The Christina Falls themselves are
quite spectacular.
Directions: From Fort St John drive north on Highway
97 to Mile 95 (large turn and signed Halfway Band), turn left at
continue along this road. While it is not a radio controlled road for
civilian traffic, please keep in mind that there is a lot of Oil Field
traffic on this road as well as Logging activity at certain times of the
year, so please drive safe. You will eventually cross a single lane
wooden bridge and come to a "Y". Stay to the left at this intersection,
and continue along to the next "Y". Head right and continue along to
Kilometres 100 and you will see a sign for the campground. Do not cross
the bridge near 100 but continue along the same side of the river. This
will take you to the Crying Girl Campsite. If you wish to unload at the
trailhead, you can unload at the road near Kilometre 98 (heads off to
the right.) From the road near 98,
