Johnston Creek
Trail Map
Trail Description
Currently this trail is approximately 34 kilometres long and is
located just outside Taylor BC. The trailhead is approximately 5
kilometres from the Hiway and while this trail does run thru private
property, quad access has been granted as long as you stay on the
trail. Please make sure to close the wooden gate behind you.
DIRECTIONS Cross the Taylor Bridge heading south on Hiway
97 to your third left (across the road from ANVIL Welding). Make a
left turn and follow road for approximately 5 kilometres to a small
gravel pit on the left hand side of the road. Do not park in the
pit, rather on the left just before the pit. Unload here and follow
the trail down the road. You will come to a cattle guard gate next
to some corrals, the trail curves around to the right, follow across
the creek to a small Y, stay right. Do not climb the large hill on
the far right. Continue along the farmers field, keeping an eye out
for cattle. Open the wooden gate and drive thru. Close gate behind
you, and follow trail. The trail drops down a small hill to the left
and crosses a field. At the edge of this field there is a small
gated access point to stop large vehicles from traveling down this
path. Follow the path thru several ravines or gullies, until you
come to a small creek. Cross this creek and follow the trail along
the creek to the Peace River. There are multiple trails running over
this area, but the trail listed here is the main one. After you
cross several ravines and climb your way to the top of the Plateau,
there is a nice viewpoint of the Peace River looking towards Taylor.
